Digital Creativity is all about giving children the tools to make, not just consume.

Instead of watching videos or scrolling through other people’s creations, children get to build their own. The activity spans four main areas: digital art, where they design and illustrate; animation, where they bring characters and stories to life; video production, where they film and edit their own short pieces; and 3D modelling, where they design objects and worlds on screen.

Across all of them, children are encouraged to create, design, experiment and express their own ideas through practical digital projects.

Animation is where a lot of children fall in love with Digital Creativity, and it is the perfect way in.

In our animation classes for kids, children learn how movement, characters, scenes and storytelling come together to make something come alive on screen. They plan a story, build their characters, and sequence it frame by frame until it plays.

Younger children often start with stop motion using tools like Stop Motion Studio, but animation here is far more than one technique. It sits inside a wider creative technology experience, so children can move between animation, digital art and video as their confidence and interests grow.

Every session is built around making something, so the skills come from doing.

Children develop digital art and visual creativity, animation and storytelling, and the basics of video editing and production. They explore 3D design and modelling, and practise design thinking and creative problem-solving as they plan and refine their work.

Along the way they grow in confidence using digital tools, and pick up the kind of practical digital literacy skills that quietly support everything from schoolwork to future creativity.

We choose tools for what they let children make, not for the logos on the screen.

For animation, children often use Stop Motion Studio to turn a series of photos into a moving story. For digital design and visual creativity, Canva helps them make posters, graphics and artwork that look genuinely good. For 3D design and modelling, Tinkercad lets younger children build objects and scenes without any fuss, and for older or more confident children, Blender opens up more advanced 3D creative projects.

Which tools your child uses depends on their age, the type of session and their ability level, so the software grows with them.

Our Digital Creativity activities are designed for children aged 5 to 13, and no experience is needed.

They suit complete beginners just as well as children who already love drawing, animation, videos, design, games, modelling or creative technology. Because activities can be adapted to age, confidence and ability, every child works at a level that feels like a stretch rather than a struggle. Quiet beginners get support and encouragement. Confident young creators get room to make something more ambitious.
