It is our weekly technology programme for children, running through term time, where coding sits at the centre but never on its own. Across the year children build real coding skills and explore robotics, game design, app design, animation, digital arts and web design, working out what they enjoy as they go.

The point is progress. A one-off session is good fun. Turning up every week is how confidence, creativity and practical digital skills get built.

Weekly Coding and Technology Classes for Children

Our weekly kids coding classes give children something a single workshop cannot: time.

Children attend regular sessions and build their digital skills gradually, rather than dipping in once and moving on. Sessions are practical and varied, so across the year children work through different technology topics and projects instead of repeating the same thing. Each one builds on the last, and children can see themselves getting better, which is usually the moment it clicks.

It is coding-led, but it is not coding-only.

More Than a Kids Coding Class

Coding is the backbone of the Academy. It is not the whole of it.

Children explore coding and programming alongside robotics and engineering, physical computing, game design, app design and web design. They try animation and digital arts, and 3D design and digital creativity where these form part of the programme. They also spend time on online safety and responsible technology use, which matters every bit as much as the technical side.

That breadth is deliberate. Children arrive thinking they like one thing and often leave loving something they had never heard of.

What Children Learn at ComputerXplorers Academy

The subjects change through the year. The skills underneath them stack up.

Children develop coding and computational thinking and get sharper at problem-solving and logical thinking as they work through projects that refuse to behave first time. They stretch their creativity and imagination, practise design thinking, and build resilience by testing and improving their own work rather than abandoning it.

Working in a group brings in collaboration and communication. Running through all of it is a growing confidence with technology, solid digital literacy, and a clear sense of how to use technology safely and responsibly.

How the Academy Works

Children usually attend weekly sessions during term time.

Each session is practical, and children work through a variety of technology topics and hands-on projects across the programme. That rhythm is what makes the difference. Confidence builds gradually rather than in one burst, children get the chance to discover what they enjoy, and new skills have time to settle before the next thing arrives.

Academy Levels by Age Group

The Academy is structured into groups, so children work alongside others at a similar stage. Age ranges are a guide rather than a rule. The right group for your child may depend on their confidence, their experience and what is running locally.

MiniXplorers (3 to 6 years)

Our youngest group. Children meet age-appropriate technology ideas through creativity, discovery and play, including simple programming, robotics, internet safety and early digital activities.

JuniorXplorers (7 to 9 years)

For children ready to explore creative technology in more detail. Sessions may cover computer games, mobile apps, animation, robotics and how technology fits into everyday life.

TechXplorers (10 to 13 years)

For older children building deeper knowledge of software, hardware and computing concepts. Sessions may include animation, computer games, robotics, programming and using technology in smart, safe and sustainable ways.

ProXplorers (13 to 16 years)

For teenagers who want to go further. The focus shifts to deeper computing skills, collaboration, industry-style practice and creative problem-solving.
