ComputerXplorers instructors run coding, robotics and technology sessions for children across the UK, in after-school clubs, weekly Academy sessions and holiday camps. Most roles are part-time and term-time, which is why they suit teaching assistants, students, newly qualified teachers, career changers and parents looking for work that fits around everything else.

Full training, lesson plans and equipment come as standard. You do not need to be an IT expert. You need to enjoy being in a room full of children who have just made a robot move.

What the Role Involves

Instructors deliver hands-on computing sessions to children, using lesson plans and equipment we provide.

Depending on the role and the location, that might mean running after-school computing clubs during the week, leading weekly Academy sessions, or supporting holiday camps and workshops during the school holidays. Sessions cover coding, robotics, game design, animation and other technology activities, usually with children somewhere between 3 and 16.

You are not expected to invent the curriculum. Everything is planned, resourced and already tested on real children. Your job is to bring it to life.

Who We Are Looking For

Confidence with computers matters far more than qualifications.

We look for people who are comfortable using technology, enjoy working with children and can make learning fun. Reliability counts, as does being happy to run a session on your own once you are trained. Most roles need an Enhanced DBS, which we will help you apply for if you do not already have one, and many need a driver with their own transport, since instructors often travel between schools and venues.

If you have worked with children before, in a school, a club or anywhere else, that helps. If you have not, but you are good with them, say so in your application.
