ComputerXplorers, the popular provider of children’s extra-curricular computing classes, is now bringing its inspiring range of activity sessions and clubs to children in Bristol.
Its engaging educational programmes give children the tools they need to thrive in a technology-driven future, combining creative thinking with the latest computing skills. ComputerXplorers classes offer children the opportunity to explore, innovate, and grow in the fascinating world of technology and computing. They are accessible to all children aged three to 16 years old, of all abilities.
The classes run in local schools, nurseries, community centres and other children’s groups. Sessions cover a wide range of in-demand topics from coding, 3D animation and modelling to web design, robotics, Minecraft, and app building with Appshed.
The new club has been launched by Bristol native, Ben Ford, who has a strong background in both education and computing software.
Ben began his career as a primary school teacher, but after the birth of his first child, decided to return to university and complete a Masters degree before becoming a lecturer in Psychology and a psychology researcher. During his time in this field, he learnt to code and program for virtual reality (VR) and data science purposes in a variety of coding languages.
Ben said: “Having worked as a primary school teacher, I’m fully aware of the importance of this type of extracurricular activity play in our children’s lives. It is a big challenge for schools to be able to keep up with the ever-changing nature of software and computing tech, and that is where ComputerXplorers can really add value.
“At ComputerXplorers, we can provide a fun, engaging learning environment for children to learn and play safely with computing software, with continually updated courses and technologies to ensure their skills are up-to-date with the latest innovations. With the backing of the ComputerXplorers team, my aim is to do anything we can do to raise the profile of computing education for youngsters.”
Currently, ComputerXplorers Bristol is running after school clubs at Victoria Park Primary in Bristol, St Francis in Nailsea and Two Mile Hill Primary, activity sessions with Windmill Hill Scout Group, an INSET day club in Totterdown and academy sessions in Bradley Stoke and Totterdown.
